It was an immensely busy week on the underage front for Westport United with no fewer than nineteen matches played with plenty of thrills and spills all over Mayo as various boys and girls teams were in action in league and knockout football.

In the U.13s, the U.13 team had a great 3-0 win against Straide and Foxford United. The U.13B team took on Achill Rovers and gave the islanders a really good, tough game but Achill sneaked out a 1-0 win. This was followed by a tie against Snuigboro and it was a cracking game of football with lots of quality in both team’s play. Westport won this thrilling encounter 3-2. The U.13C team took on Claremorris B and really turned on the style as their opponents did everything to make the game difficult. Westport ran out very comfortable winners. The U.15B team gave a mighty account of themselves against a very good Iorras Aontaithe side and were unlucky to lose 3-1 and this was followed up by a 3-0 defeat to Manulla. The U.15C team put in a brave performance as Killala underlined their strength with a 3-0 win. However, they bounced back in style as they took on a very good Achill Rovers team and in an exciting and riveting game of football, both sides were tied at 2-2 after extra time and after a brilliant penalty shootout, Westport United advanced 4-3. The U.15D team recorded a very good 3-0 win against Glenhest Rovers. However, they took on Castlebar Celtic B and gave a great account of themselves but Castlebar were just that bit too strong and won 5-2.

The U.15 Girls travelled to Kiltimagh/Knock United and put in an excellent display to record a comprehensive victory against their gallant hosts.

The U.17s took on Ballina Town, widely considered to be their bogey team over recent years and produced a quality, confident performance against a very good team and the climax of such a terrific display was a fully deserved 4-2 win.
