In a dressing room in Belleek in Ballina, a group of Westport United footballers and their management team were trying to come to terms with a poor performance. It had not been one of our most auspicious days and everyone inside the four walls in Belleek wanted to ensure that it would not happen again. But there was something else on everyone’s minds too. One of our greatest supporters, Tommy Kennedy, had been ill for some time and we were planning our attendance at a Mass in his honour in Aughagower for Tommy on Monday evening at 8 o’clock. Then, just as we were about to leave, we heard that Tommy had passed away on Sunday afternoon.
