Notice Regarding Insurance and Medical Cover
Westport United has Public Liability Insurance that covers the Club and its members while carrying out official Club activities. Public Liability Insurance does not cover medical or treatment costs for injuries that occur while playing or training.
Currently all our Players registered with the Mayo Schoolboys / Girls Youth League (up to U16) are covered by the League’s Group Personal Accident Insurance. Many players may also already have 24-hour Personal Accident cover through their school or their family private health insurance through providers such as VHI, Laya, or similar.
All male adult players are covered by a Group Personal Accident Insurance policy (previously arranged by the Mayo League). Adult female players will be covered by a similar policy through the Mayo Women’s League before the start of the new season. Adult players should be aware that these policies have limits and do not cover all costs, including loss of earnings.
In the past, the Club has tried to help with costs not covered by insurance when a player was injured while playing or training. However, due to the rising cost of medical treatment, the Club can no longer guarantee that it will be able to contribute significantly to medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.
