Bank Holiday Sunday, 2nd June promises to be a day as legendary as the Grand National at Aintree when instead of horses and jockeys on a race course, Westport's famous tree-lined Mall will be hosting the second Annual Fundraising Duck Race. The race will commence at 1:00, following 12:00 Mass which will undoubtedly attract a large crowd and hopefully Fr Charlie McDonnell might bless the ducks before the race. If last year's race with all the tiny ducklings was anything to go by, then this race should be equally as epic. The first five ducks that crosses the finishing line will entail the supporters that bought the ducks a voucher/hamper of €100 for the winning duck. The ducks are now on sale retailing at €5 and to buy your duck, all you need to do is buy a line from any player or coach. The duck race promises to be great fun for all the family and there will surely be lots of excitement along The Mall. Don't forget to buy your duck for the biggest race of the year.
